[tab:biography]
Since her first show of figurative paintings in London in 1976, Robin Richmond’s work has taken her all over the world. Her reputation as an artist is firmly established on both sides of the Atlantic with work in public and private collections.
As a colourist and landscape painter, her work is often about a place at a specific moment in time. Her technique is to build up layer upon layer of colour and texture, re-working and distilling the original source image. Richmond’s paintings seek to snare the elusive qualities of light and land and of the relationship between them.
American-born, brought up in Rome, she moved to London in 1969, where she studied at Chelsea School of Art graduating with a B.A. in Fine Art and an M.A. in Art History.
Her career has combined painting, University teaching, writing and broadcasting, and she now divides her time between her studios in London and in France.
