[tab:biography]

Artist Susan Green was born in 1958 and studied at Dartington College of Arts from 1977-79.

After moving to Bristol she became a member of Artspace studios practicing mainly drawing and painting. She became drawn to making sculpture and developed skills in stonework at Bath College of F.E. A short course at Tout Quarry, Isle of Portland, Dorset followed and confirmed her love of this medium.

Susan Green’s work is figurative and she practices direct carving, enjoying the process of finding the form within a piece of stone and creating a piece with tactile qualities and the essence of the character of the subject.

As well as exhibiting at many Bath Society of Artists Annual exhibitions since 1999 and at Royal West of England Academy Annual Open Exhibition 2015, Susan has carried out several private commissions.

Drawing from life is an essential element of her practice, and in 2009 she illustrated a novel for young adults: Breathing Underwater by Julia Green published by Bloomsbury.

Susan Green lives in Bath and is a member of Larkhall Open Studios.
